Bayer ForwardFarming: Sustainable agriculture in practice
The Bayer ForwardFarming concept was established in Belgium to demonstrate Bayer's solutions for a more sustainable agriculture. Selected farms such as Bayer ForwardFarm Hof ​​ten Bosch in Huldenberg are knowledge platforms that offer the possibility to share expertise and achievements with all stakeholders in the value chain of agriculture - farmers, agronomists, the food chain, academics, politicians, government officials, consumers, etc. Bayer ForwardFarming aims to increase the exchange of agricultural know-how, highlight improvements in sustainable agriculture, and facilitate communication between farmers and stakeholders

Belchim

Belchim Crop Protection, a Belgian player in the European crop protection market. From its origin in Belgium in 1987 to its position as a major European player in the crop protection industry today, Belchim Crop Protection has shown remarkable growth in those 31 years. As a company and an innovative product supplier, it has adapted well to the changes in the industry and the changing regulatory environment.

ILVO

The Flanders Research Institute for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (ILVO) performs multidisciplinary, innovative and independent research aimed at economically, ecologically and socially sustainable agriculture and fisheries. Building on more than 85 years of fundamental and applied research experience, ILVO can count on the expertise and knowledge of almost 600 employees and a large infrastructure: 200 hectares of experimental fields, 15,000 m² of glasshouses, more than 20,000 m² of experimental animal housing, and so on. In addition, ILVO has test benches, a pilot milk installation and a pilot food processing plant, a seed reception and processing unit, and many analysis and detection labs, a diagnostic centre and accredited laboratories for plants, animal feed, spray technology, food and GMOs.

Inagro is a research and knowledge center in agriculture and horticulture in the heart of the province of West Flanders in Belgium. With innovation and sustainability in mind, Inagro represents:

KU Leuven

Biosystems @ KU Leuven, Biotechnics, sensors and mechatronics for plant health and quality in production and the supply chain.
KU Leuven is a university with international appeal, ranking among the best 50 universities worldwide with a strong focus on innovation. At the department of Biosystems, different groups of the divisions of Crop Biotechnics and Mechantronics and Sensors perform R&D towards sustainable solutions for producing and supplying healthy agrofood to the consumer.

pcfruit npo

Pcfruit is located in the heart of the fruit growing area of Belgium and covers applied scientific research, demonstration activities to growers, co-development programs with various kinds of industries and advisory services for fruit growers. All these activities are centralized at one location of 62 hectares with suitable infrastructure such as labs, greenhouses, storage facilities, plastic tunnels, shelters, warehouses and orchards.

PCS and PCG

PCS Ornamental Plant Research confirmed us for a field excursion on their site in Destelbergen. PCS is the tree nursery, floriculture & landscaping sector’s independent knowledge centre in Flanders. Our research, information and services focus on issues and problems in the tree nursery, floriculture and landscaping industry and are aimed at encouraging innovation among growers and landscapers.
PCG pcgroenteteelt is founded in 1977. PCG has been one of Flanders's fastest growing centres for applied research and extension services in vegetable production. PCG, an institution financed by the Flemish government and private institutions, carries out applied research on vegetables (field trials as well as sensory analysis) and provides growers with advice and a wide range of services of their interest, in accordance with economic and social developments.

PSKW

The Research Station for Vegetable Production has more than 50 years of experience (°1963) in research on the cultivation of greenhouse and field vegetables. It is located at Sint-Katelijne- Waver, in the center of one of the most important production regions of fresh vegetables in Flanders (Belgium). It is a non-governmental and a non-profit organisation.

UGent Demonstration Farm

The history of the experimental farm in Bottelare goes back to 1983. Those days, the main focus was on optimizing the cultivation of maize and barley. While research on these crops is still being conducted, nowadays, the experimental farm has grown into a well-equipped facility carrying out multidisciplinary and innovative fundamental and applied agricultural research. Various field experiments with a wide range of arable crops, including small grain cereals, maize, legumes and canola are set up. In addition, greenhouse and laboratory experiments are conducted to gain a profound insight into e.g. the plant-pathogen-environment interactions.
